The single 'If This Ain't Love' is very different from the sound of your band, are you a big fan of house music? Yes I love house music; I've been a bit of a raver for a very long time and have incorporated many ideas from house music into my band and solo projects over the years. Ministry Of Sound was the first club I ever went to as a teenager, I still feel it holds the best sound system in London, The End Came in a very close second.

With legendary Skunk Anansie singer Skin taking control of the vocal line, and the undisputable touch of label boss Erick Morillo and regular partner in crime Eddie Thoneick on production duty, Subliminal’s springtime big hitter ‘If This Ain’t Love’ receives its official release – rather appropriately – on Valentine’s Day. 

Verlangen. Een woord dat op veel verschillende onderwerpen van toepassing kan zijn. Wanneer we specifiek naar de clubscene kijken, dan kunnen we echter stellen dat nagenoeg iedereen verlangt naar het ‘speciale’. Naar het bijzondere, het unieke, naar hetgeen waar letterlijk en vol overgave naartoe geleefd kan worden. Velen hebben dat iedere zomer wanneer het strand- en festivalseizoen weer van start gaat. En natuurlijk het seizoen op het, ieder jaar populairder wordende, eiland ‘Ibiza’. En ‘Ibiza´ ervaren in Nederland’ blijft voor velen toch ook iedere keer weer een moment om naar te verlangen.

Je zweeft. Je waant jezelf in het paradijs. Het gevoel dat je nooit meer wilt vertrekken, is sterker dan ooit en iedereen om je heen lijkt hetzelfde gevoel te ervaren. Prachtige performances bereiken intens je netvliezen en de pompende beats laten je trommelvliezen geen moment onbewogen. Dit is hoe het hoort te zijn, dit is van een andere dimensie! Maar wat is het? Is het een droom? Is het een verlangen? Of is het voodoo? Je opent je ogen en staat op een dansvloer met gelijkgestemden. Met liefhebbers die een avond uit beleven vol passie en energie. Die zich verliezen in de nacht en nooit meer naar huis willen. This ain't no voodoo baby, this is real!

In Nederland weet je het maar nooit met het weer. Maar wanneer er mooie festivals in Amsterdam geprogrammeerd staan, blijken de weergoden steeds goed gezind deze zomer. A Day at the Park was een stralende dag met strak blauwe hemel en ook het afgelopen zaterdag gehouden Loveland Festival 2010 vond plaats met erg mooi weer. Een graad of 24, weinig wind en geregeld zon! En ook deze locatie leent zich net als het Amsterdamse Bos uitstekend voor een festival, zoals Loveland. Water, weide en bos, alle drie van deze elementen zijn aanwezig. De main stage (Fire Stage) lag tussen een bosrand met een uitgebreid veld als dansvloer. De stage zelf was opgebouwd in de vorm van een burcht. Dat is toch wel de trend van de afgelopen jaren. Vaak zie je burchten terug uit vervlogen tijden als stage op festivals. Mooi om te zien en het levert mooie foto’s op.

He was the guy behind the re-rub of Robin S  ‘Show Me Love’, with fellow producer Laidback Luke, you know the one, the track that went ballistic across every European national chart. He is also 33.3 % of The Swedish House Mafia, the too hot to handle bad boys of Dance music. As a solo artist, Steve’s talents did not go unnoticed by Super star DJ Erick Morillo who quickly became his number one fan. Afer a great deal of chasing, Erick has finally got Steve to produce an album for his beloved Subliminal label. Here Erick interviews Steve and finds out about the man, his music and what’s he has done with the new mix.
