Biografie

Techno boss Richie Hawtin grew up in Canada across the river of Detroit (US), where true techno was born. He inherited the love for electronic music from his father, who made him listen to for example Kraftwerk. His style in the beginning was a mixture of house and techno and he started DJ’ing at Detroit clubs at the age of 17. Hawtin has released work under various aliases, but Plastikman (minimal) can be considered one of his most successful ones. Under the alias F.U.S.E. he released his first music in 1993 via his label Plus 8, which he formed with Canadian DJ John Acquaviva. As Richie Hawtin, he’s just famous. Within the techno scene, he can be considered as one of the pioneers and he is still going strong today. With his concept Cocoon, he took over Amnesia Ibiza more than once and was supported by techno legends such as Magda, Sven Väth and Marco Carola. He has collaborated fruitfully with the likes of Loco Dice and in 2006 he even worked together with a choreographer for the Winter Olympics opening ceremony. This Berlin based DJ and producer still releases music as Plastikman, but Richie Hawtin doesn’t need an alias to get the techno loving crowd on its feet.
